I am craving blue … shoes

I have been revisiting some of my favourite episodes (or better seasons ;)) of Sex and the City and oh my word – how this series did influence back then with clothing, style tips and wishes for the future. I saw so many outfits I 'back then' was craving for or which my mom made us! Nevertheless I only tell you this because I spent a great deal of my time today looking for SHOES in the WWW. I still have a gift voucher from ASOS with some money left and what better to do with it than shoes – I do favour the ones with the little red heart (below)?! Of course I got sidetracked and checked out some other shopping sites as well in order to put together a little shoes-inspiration-board for you. I just hope that with my current back account I won't end up spending money way over my voucher limit and end up like Carrie in below's scene *hihi*.

Shopping in May

We haven't really celebrated this month's colour yet! The colour Orange is one of the bright and clashing colour you have often seen on the spring catwalks of fashion collections in 2011. I just want to remind you of the ever-present ideas of Raf Simons for Jil Sander (as seen in our header image).
Walking around Paris I have found many many orange bags, dresses and flowers everywhere. This is why I want to start into our monthly feature with a shopping inspiration board. I want to invite you to a little shopping spree – I can't join in since the European capitals have totally emptied out my wallet (not so much any bargains I got but the coffee prices in every café ;)). Wir haben die Farbe des Monats noch gar nicht gewürdigt! Die Farbe Orange ist dabei eine der Knallfarben, die wir auf den Frühlings-Catwalks in Mailand, Paris oder New York gesehen haben. Da möchte ich nur an die derzeit überall präsenten Entwürfe von Raf Simons für Jil Sander erinnern (die ihr ja auch im Neu4bauer-Header rechts seht).

Und natürlich hab ich auch viele, viele orangene Kleidchen, Taschen und Blumen in Paris entdeckt, weshalb ich heute auch zum Shopping und Stöbern einladen will ;) – bei mir ist das jetzt vorbei, denn die europäischen Hauptstädte haben meinen Geldbeutel vollkommen leergefegt (dabei v.a. die Kaffeepreise und weniger viele Käufe). Field Test: Evening in Maxi Skirt

It may says some things about Germany that I was only brave enough to wear this Jil-Sander-maxi skirt (collection at vogue.com) in London for the very first time. However it WAS a very special evening when I surprised my very good friend Lauren for her birthday. She did not expect me at all to show up at her doorstep since the preparations were undisclosed between Charlie and me. Thus the first obstacle of that evening: when Lauren realized it was me standing in front of her house she wildly flung her arms around my neck in full tilt. I stumbled over the hemline, got tangled in that and would have desperately fallen over if Charlie wouldn't have been behind me!

First rule: Don't let anybody wildly hug or fall onto you while wearing this skirt (or bring along a 'sturdy' helper *hehe*

What to wear in 2011 … on your nose

Not only shoes and bags and dresses and blouses are subject to fashion in each and every season. Looking back at old fashion magazines from 1980 you will not only be amazed at the materials and shapes of clothes but also at the enormous sizes of their specs and glasses. Having to wear glasses every day (yes, with prescription values ;-)), I am naturally drawn to this optic fashion – form, shapes, colours and materials are always different and exciting. The newest fashion shows for Spring 2011 have featured numerous models wearing glasses. Today I want to show you three of my favourite styles: the "old" Dries van Noten Fall 2010 and the "new" Dsquared² and Paul Smith Spring 2011. I added some specs from asos.com as a shopping inspiration (best detail: they all range from 6 - 10£)

I will only say this: I FINALLY got a new pair of glasses myself. I loved my Ray Bans for more than 3 years – they were my good companions in Stuttgart, in the beginning of Leipzig and of course in London. However with Orsay, H&M and Pimkie copying that style for a while now, you see this shape on the nose of every second girl and I felt it was time to move on ;-)! Nicht nur Schuhe und Taschen und Kleider und Blusen sind in jeder Saison Grund für entzückte Ausrufe und Näh- bzw. Shoppingorgien. Schaut man sich alte Modezeitschriften aus den 80er oder 70er Jahren an, wird man sich nicht nur über die Materialien der Klamotten und Formen der Kleider wundern, sondern z.B. über die enorme Größe der getragenen Brillen. Da ich jeden Tag eine Brille aufhabe (richtig  - mit Stärke ;-)) bin ich für diese Optikertrends natürlich ziemlich offen – Form und Rundung, Farben und Materialien sind immer wieder aufregend und neu. Heute will ich deshalb drei meiner Lieblingsstile der neuesten Kollektionen zeigen: die "alten" von Dries van Noten Fall 2010 und die "neuen" Dsquared² und Paul Smith Frühling 2011. Ich hab noch einige Modelle und Gestelle von asos.com als Shopping-Inspiration hinzugefügt (bestes Detail: sie kosten fast alle zwischen 6-10£).


Der Grund für diesen Post: ENDLICH hab ich selbst eine neue Brille (könnt ihr euch an den Krimi in London erinnern … ;-)). Meine Ray Bans habe ich drei Jahre mehr als alles andere geliebt – mein guter Begleiter in Stuttgart, für den Beginn in Leipzig und natürlich in London. Nichtsdestotrotz war es Zeit, weiterzuziehen, v.a. nachdem Pimkie, Orsay & Co. diese Brille kopiert hatten und jede zweite mit ihr auf der Nase durch die Großstädte dieser Welt zieht. Schon lange hatte ich eine Shopping-Collage à la Elle, Grazia oder Glamour geplant. Ich liebe diese Seiten, die thematisch oder farblich neue Produkte zeigen. Trotzdem hab ich länger gezögert, weil ich einen nicht zu unterschätzenden Zeitaufwand erwartete. In looooove: Caroline Herrera New York Spring 2011

Okay, we just got around to buying or making some of the key pieces of this season - fall 2010 – and now we have to adjust again! Opening up on my homescreen every day is style.com or fashionologie.com, pointing on the newest runway shows in New York with the spring 2011 collections. Until now I wasn't too excited about the looks, but … ohhh have I found some looks today!:

Carolina Herrera's program notes explained that Spring was inspired by two things: the traditional clothes of Korea, and botanical plates collected in the eighteenth century. [...] The tall, wide-brimmed straw hats (customarily worn by men in Korea) and the superfluous obilike bows that decorated the bust- and waistlines of evening dresses hardly dispelled the disquiet, nor did floral prints complete with calligraphy detailing the plant's name and origins. Happily, there was also a lot here of a more subtle nature. The more restrained gowns suggested that Herrera can still teach a thing or two to the up-and-comers gunning for the Park Avenue set. In particular, a lotus-blossom-embroidered blouse and olive to-the-floor skirt and a forest green metallic fils coupe column dress with a slightly asymmetrical neckline nailed the understated grandeur that's long been a Herrera signature.[…]

You may call me easily pleased, but I am more than thrilled about those prints of old botanical plates. Just right for my historical and vintage taste. Thus I cannot agree with the fine but subtle criticism in style.com's review. Other than that I concur: you cannot miss the grandeur of Grande Dame Carolina Herrera in spring 2011!

I defined three major parts of this collection, which I find most intriguing and composed a little collage of each of them: Shape & Form, Botanical Plates and Bows on Dresses. There would be so much more to mention like the Korean straw hats or the Asian inspired hairstyles (Oh my word, we have to find out how to style that!) I hope you enjoy the collages! Have a good Tuesday. I am waiting for the builders in our house to leave and finish working because my mom and I actually want to go to cityhall to open our business ;-)!

Okay, jetzt haben wir gerade die ersten Keypieces für Winter 2010 gekauft oder gemacht und nun müssen wir uns schon wieder anpassen! Auf meinem Homescreen im Browser werden auf style.com und fashionologie.com ständig die neuesten Trends von den Laufstegen aus New York gezeigt – also Frühling 2011. Bisher hatten mich die Looks und Kleider noch nicht begeistert, aber … ohhh, hat sich das heute geändert:

Carolina Herera's Notizen erklärten, dass der Frühling von zwei Dingen inspiriert wurden: traditionelle Kleidung aus Korea und botanische Zeichnungen aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. […] Die hohen, breitkrempigen Strohhüte (traditionellerweise von Männern in Korea getragen) und die eigentlich überflüssigen Schleifen, die Brust- und Taillenlinien der Abendkleider schmückten konnten die Unruhe kaum verbannen, noch taten dies die floralen Drucke (komplett mit kalligraphischer Typographie, welche Namen und Herkunft der Pflanzen verraten). Zum Glück gab es auch vieles zu sehen, welches feinsinniger und subtilerer Natur war. Die zurückhaltenden Gewänder zeigten deutlich, dass Herrera den aufstrebenden Jungdesignern noch das eine oder andere beibringen kann. Vor allem die Bluse bestickt mit Lotusblumen und einem olivfarbenen bodenlangen Rock oder ein waldgrünes metallischglänzendes statueskenhaftes Kleid mit leicht assymetrischer Halslinie untermalte die Grandeur, die schon lang Herreras Markenzeichen ist.

Man mag mich für leicht zufriedenzustellen halten, aber ich bin über die Maße begeistert von den Drucken der botanischen Zeichnungen. Dies ist genau nach meinem historischen Geschmack ;-)! Der feinen aber hörbaren Kritik im Style.com-Review kann ich also nicht zustimmen. Ansonsten stimmt schon, was er/sie sagt: die Grandeur der Grande Dame Carolina Herrera ist auch im Frühjahr 2011 nicht zu übersehen!

Ich habe drei Collagen vorbereitet, in denen ich die für mich wichtigsten Details der Kollektion zusammenfasse: Form & Silhouette, Botanische Drucke und Schleifen auf Kleidern. Es gäbe noch viel zu erwähnen: koreanische Strohhüte oder die asiatisch anmutenden Frisuren (da müssen wir noch rauskriegen, wie wir das nachstylen, stimmts!?) Ich hoffe, ihr mögt sie!
Ich warte jetzt sehnlichst, dass die Bauarbeiter aus unserem Haus verschwinden (unangemeldet gekommen!), weil ich mit meiner Mutter eigentlich heute aufs Gewerbeamt will, um Neu4bauer anzumelden!!! Also drückt die Daumen!

For a long time I am following the posts and news at BibliOdyssey. I found them to be the best inspirtion for embroidery patterns and monograms! Schon seit langem verfolge ich den Blog von BibliOdyssey regelmäßig. Da gibt es immer wieder wundervolle Inspirationen für Stickmotive und Monogramme! Heute MUSS ich allerdings die "Claremont Mode-Blätter" zeigen, die im neuesten Post veröffentlicht wurden. Dort gibts noch ein paar mehr wundervolle Bilder zu sehen. Wie ich solche Illustrationen und alten Zeichnungen liebe!
