High temperatures and matching colours

Hello everyone,
My sister had to go to a "Mobile Bar-Camp" in Dresden and thus I drove her and a colleague and met my parents in Dresden. We had a wonderful little walk to the fabric's store (*hihi*) and got some presents for my sister's birthday (naturally I cannot tell what we got - my sister is not only very suspicious but she is NOT dumm and ALWAYS reads my blog ;-).

Anyway, this day brought:

• me loving this beautiful purple lilac


• I want to have a new big project, thinking about building a new website - planning ahead!


• a lot of sun


• sore feet - I went jogging four times this week and then we walked again today ...


• wangle a mint green skirt out of my mom


• a bunch of great pictures - see the composition below: Dresden really makes a nice impression on such a wonderful day!


• the decision: I will NOT buy a bridge camera, but a compact one with good features since I am too lazy to always carry around a big, big camera. Can you advise any model?

meine Schwester ist heute im "MobileBar-Camp" in Dresden und ich habe diese Gelegenheit genutzt: hab sie und eine Kollegin hingefahren und mich in der sächsischen Landeshauptstadt mit meinen Eltern getroffen. Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Spaziergang zum Stoffladen (*hihi*), kauften GAAAAANZ viele Geschenke für meine Schwester zum Geburtstag ;-) (natürlich kann ich jetzt nicht erzählen, WAS, denn meine Schwester ist eine neugierige Liese und liest dazu noch regelmäßig meinen Blog - und ganz doof bin ich ja auch nicht ;-)).
Also, dieser Tag brachte:

• meine Liebe zu diesem wunderbaren lila Flieder auf dem Bild oben


• eine Idee für ein neues Projekt, welches ich angehen will: Internetseite programmieren - derzeit in Planung


• viel Sonne


• wackelige Beine und wehtuende Füße - war schon 4x Laufen diese Woche und dann heute noch Bummeln ...


• das Abluchsen eines mintgrünen Rockes von meiner Mutter


• eine Menge schöner Bilder - zu sehen in der unteren Zusammenstellung: Dresden macht wirklich einen tollen Eindruck


• die Entscheidung: ich werde mir keine Bridge-Kamera kaufen, sondern eine kompakte mit sehr guten Funktionen und guter Optik - ich bin einfach zu faul, immer einen riesigen Body + Objektiv herumzutragen - irgendwelche Empfehlungen?

A wonderful late summer's day!

Yesterday we suddenly decided to go on another little trip to Dresden. Since the capital of our federal state is only like 35 minutes away and it was very nice weather, we took the chance. This time we went to the "Neustadt" from the very first and it was the right decision! "Neustadt" is a quarter/district of Dresden where you can find many little shops and thrift shops. Here you can look at some awesome pictures in a special "Neustadt Flickr Group".

I have always wanted to have a really cool, 'menly' leather jacket. However they are always sooo expensive or just run-of-the-mill. Today I finally found one with a reasonable price in a thrift store. The jacket still smells like incense sticks but I am confident to get rid of that problem ;-).

We had a very lovely day with wandering around, having a nice coffee and admiring the old buildings. I hope to give you a little insight in my region. If you ever happen to visit Germany - do not forget the east and do not forget Saxony ;-).

Last but not (!) least, we went to the fabric store (what else ??). I've copied the marketing magazine for you.

Unfortunately I do not have a good picture of the shop. Today, they had the new winter collection and as you can see: we couldn't resist!!!

Can't wait to see when my mom works her magic on those rolls of fabric!

Gestern haben wir uns ganz kurzfristig für einen kleinen Kurztripp nach Dresden aufgemacht. Mit ca. 35 Minuten Fahrt ist man zum Glück schnell und flexibel in Sachsens Hauptstadt. Diesmal packten wir es gleich von Anfang an richtig an und fuhren nicht in die Altstadt mit den überfüllten Passagen und Einkaufszentren, sondern gleich in die Neustadt mit den schönen Straßen, kleinen Geschäften und überraschenden Funden! Zum Beispiel suche ich schon seit Ewigkeiten nach einer tollen Flieger-Lederjacke, aber die sind entweder zu teuer oder Null-acht-fünfzehn. Gestern habe ich in einem - stark Räucherstäbchen-vernebelten SecondHand-Laden - endlich das passende Modell für einen annehmbaren Preis gefunden. Sie ist sogar neu und auch das Problem, dass ich immer wie ein Hippie-Laden stinke, wenn ich sie anziehe, werde ich durch Lüften in den Griff bekommen ;-).

Wir verbrachten also einen wunderbar sonnigen Tag mit Bummeln, Kaffeetrinken und natürlich (wie sollte es auch anders sein) einem kleinen Besuch im Stoffladen. Ich habe die Broschürenseite zum Geschäft einmal eingescannt. Leider habe ich kein richtiges Foto vom Innenraum des Ladens, der ein echter Hingucker ist. Gestern waren schon die Winterstoffe der neuen Kollektion da und bei einigen besonders schönen Materialien konnten wir nicht widerstehen. Ich bin schon arg gespannt, was meine Mutter aus den Stoffbahnen zaubern wird!

Auf den Stoffladen ist Verlass!

Hi everyone!

We happily returned from our little trip to Dresden yesterday. However you could only become frustrated in the inner city. It seemed to us that all the "normal" stores just dig up the clothes from last year and put them into the shop window. We strolled around in the shopping mall without seeing ANYTHING which could arrest our attention. Thankfully we finished our trip with the fabric store, where my mom bought a lot of winter fabric which was reduced (70 %!!!!) because it belonged to the collection from last winter.

Before I went to Dresden I finished a little project for a relative of mine. It is a white and black scarf with an embroidered "H". This time I tried a "new" technique: raised satin stitch, which I have found to be very easy and produced great effects. I had found a How-to in an old stitching book called "Beeton Book of Needlework" (I LOVE those old Victorian Age manuals!)

Last but not least: a little impression from today's sun in the garden of my grandmother. I hope that the weather will stay like that for some more weeks!

Der gestrige Shopping-Trip ist vorbei und es hat sich herausgestellt, dass es gar nicht soviel mit "Bummeln und sich beim Einkaufen zurückhalten" zu tun hatte. Wir sind durch die eingängigen Geschäfte in Dresden geschlendert (Zara, Mango, P&C ...) und fanden rein GAR nichts, was unsere Faszination oder wenigstens unseren Blick hätte fesseln können. Manchmal kommt es einem so vor, als ob die meisten Läden einfach die selben Sachen wie vor einem Jahr ins Schaufenster stellen und "Neue Kollektion" auf das Glas kleben. Zum Glück beendeten wir unsere Fahrt mit einem Besuch im Stoffladen in der Neustadt. Dort kaufte meine Mutter eine Menge Winterstoffe (trotz vorheriger Beteuerungen, dass es dafür noch zu früh wäre), da sie um 70% reduziert waren (Ware vom letzten Jahr).

Bevor ich nach Dresden fuhr, habe ich gestern noch ein kleines Projekt beendet. Für den Geburtstag einer Verwandten habe ich einen weiß-dunkelgrauen Schal mit eingestickten "H" gefertigt. Diesmal probierte ich endlich einmal eine "neue" Sticktechnik aus: "Raised Satin Stitch" (ich habe leider keine Ahnung, wie es auf Deutsch heißt). In letzter Zeit habe ich mir viele alte, viktorianische Stickanleitungen angeschaut und diese sind einfach wunderbar! (z.B. "Beeton Book of Needlework".

Am Ende noch eine kleine Impression vom heutigen Sommertag bei meiner Oma im Garten! Auf dass es weiter so sonnig bleibt!
