Ikea Family Live Magazine Feature

IKEA Family Live

What a surprise: last February I found an email in my inbox with the index "IKEA FAMILY LIVE" and I first suspected spam. Since then a long time has passed by and I've had a hard time not telling you anything about my experiences with Ikea Family Live-Magazine. However today you'll finally get the inside scoop!

Everything started with the pictures I posted last christmas from my decorated flat on this blog and also (what I loved most) on desiretoinspire.net. By the way: my flat is NEVER that tidy! I locked up all bags and boxes in my bathroom, thus I couldn't enter that room anymore ;). However I guess this was worth the trouble as you will read further along.

A copy editor of August Media - the agency publishing the IKEA Family Live Magazine - had seen the pictures and asked me if I wanted to be part of the new issue. In my naivity I said yes and didn't think of it much. However then I got an email asking for dates I would be available for the shooting (!). One half-screaming telephone call with my sister + parents later I was deep into email-negotiations about dates, infos about my flat and IkEA products.

In the middle of March I finally had the pleasure to welcome the copy editor, a stylist and a photographer + assistant in my home. On the first day we did a shopping spree through IKEA to find a few accessories and final bits. The second day was filled with shooting bits and bobs and the whole scenery of my one-room-flat. Unfortunately (I think) only one panorama shoot is featured in the new autumn issue of Family Live Magazine, I really liked some of the detailed shots. However you can see some of the pictures on family-live.de (the German portal).

I've waited a few months until we went to London this August and I was able to visit the agency. I could not only spend a wonderful afternoon with - as I feel - new-found friends Ellie & Annie but was allowed to take four brand new issues of the magazines home. You can see the Online Issue here ☛ (pages 59-61).

Another exciting news is, that they've relaunched the English portal ikeafamilylive.com and it is a huge enhancement to before! And I was asked to be blogging contributor to the portal, which is such an honour!! So many possibilities and jobs right now ... I feel I can never leave my computer (who am I kidding, I didn't leave it before ;)). My first blog post is online already: "Look at your hometwon differently" - a blog post about Leipzig in the eyes of a (half-)tourist!
It is for sure worth visiting this portal, since it incorporates many ideas of a communities: you can register at the site and start making scrapbooks with pictures of the site!

At the end of this post I just want to say THANK YOU again to all the lovely people at August Media. It was an awesome experience and I hope to keep in touch!!

P.S. The cover above is from Austria's issue where I got on the cover ;)!

IKEA Family Live Magazine

What a surprise! Congratulations to you! Your "living" room is just perfect and you can be very proud of it and your success in being in this magazine. Now you are a real style queen, not only in clothes for human beings but in "clothes" for rooms too. What else will happen?
