❄ A "muff" for a friend ❄ 21.12.2010 ❄

download_buttonHello everybody!

I spent a great deal of my weekend working on this hand warmer. A fashion piece which you almost cannot imagine away from vintage winter pictures. The (in German it is called 'muff' – can you tell me what you call it in English?) 'muff' is made of Silenzio wool from Schachenmayr and fake fur from a local department store. The original tutorial comes from Lynne Watterson's book "The Very Easy Guide to Cable Knitting", but I altered it by adding the fake in the inside. I like it that way because you can just turn it around and have two different structures and colours – depending on what kind of coat you are wearing.

It is not the total amateur piece. You should be a bit familiar with knitting and hand-sewing before trying to make it and follow the tutorial. But if you have ever tried knitting before, then it should be no problem to make this wonderful present (for yourself or any good friend ;). If you have problems with cabling I found this handy tutorial online at Knitting for Dummies.

Have a good Tuesday, it's almost Christmas :-)! Last day of university anyway!

Yours, Theresa

muff3download_buttonHallo an alle,

Also viel Spaß beim Werkeln!

Eure Thea

Yes, we call it a 'muff' in Australia too. Definitely not 'muff' weather here at the moment. Christmas is Summer time in Australia!
